Sticky Strip Embossing – Dragonfly Card

I have hosted Technique Tuesdays in my home once a month for over 11 years.  That’s a lot of techniques!  Over the summer, I reorganized my technique packs and found I was missing an example.  Well, rather than going back to a retired set, I re-envisioned it with a current stamp set.

This technique was Sticky Strip Embossing – a SUPER EASY technique.  Use your embossing buddy as usual, but create a bold line of embossing by putting down a stripe of Sticky Strip.  Then sprinkle your embossing powder right over hit, tap off the excess, and heat emboss until melted.

Joy Fun Fold Card

Today is National Joe Day.  Many of you know the story of our dear little Joey, who, when he was just a little guy, would often sign his name forgetting his “e” .  So he was known as our Joy.

I taught a fun fold card technique and was happy I could put a little Joy spin on it for my stampers tonight.

The Fresh Florals DSP is perfect for this card!  I know this is the first time I used the border from the Floral Phrases stamp set.  The framelit phrase actually says “you” but making a quick snip with the scissors creates “joy”.

Measurements are as follows:

  • Color Cardstock – 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ – scored at 1-1/4″ and 4-1/4″4
  • Whisper White Cardstock – 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • DSP (3 pieces)
  • (2) 2-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • (1) 1″ x 5-1/4″

Super easy!

Heartfelt Blooms Triple Layer Card

Yes, it has been a while. I’ve been creating a bit more, but getting to photograph the creations and write my blog is still difficult.

This card was created in two different colors – Fresh Fig and Berry Burst. This is the Fresh Fig rendition. Very simple card using the triple layer technique. I love this new Sale-A-Bration stamp set – just twisting the stamp can make it look like you are using three different stamps.

The coordinating ribbon and large gems complete the look. So many occasions to use this card – use a phrase from the stamp set or find another one in your collection!

New Catalog, New Colors, New ME!

Last night I hosted an In Colors Introduction Stamp Class.  Any customer that joined my In Colors Club got admission for FREE; otherwise it was only $5.00 to attend.  In my opinion, our new In Colors can be challenging to work with, but they are a shot in the arm so to speak to breathe life into our color palette.

Here is one of the cards we made last night.

The Happy Birthday thinlet was EASY PEASY to release which made my customers super happy.  When you have a full class of stampers and need some accessories, this is a great card too because there isn’t one “right” color for the bow addition.  Love the mini circle dimensional on the back of the bows for easy adhering!

Every catalog changeover I reflect on what I want to work on for the year.  I am truly blessed by a wonderful group of stampers who attend my events.  I am EXTREMELY lucky to not want for customers (but I will gladly welcome you if you are interested!).

This year, I need to focus on branding myself and my blog and being CONSISTENT with posting.  I create all the time – I just don’t take the pretty pictures and talk about my creations.  I’ve been blogging for over 13 years – I know how to do it.  Just am juggling too many things and wearing too many hats in my corner of the world.

In this technological age, we want information fast, clean, and easy.  I am seriously considering a redesign of my blog which is scary and exciting at the same time.  I have loved this design and still do, but stampers are drawn to clean or at least not so busy backgrounds.  I may be chomping off too much, but blog overhaul is a goal I have for the summer.  Bear with me as I work through this process.

Hip to be (not) Square Technique

I hosted my 100th Technique Tuesday stamp class in January.  That means my customers have learned THREE HUNDRED TECHNIQUES!!!  One of the techniques I taught I named the Hip to be (Not) Square technique.  In technique, I showed my customers how to extend the square Stitched Framelits into a rectangle.

I chose the Avant Garden stamp set for this card.  You can get this stamp set for free with a $50 order through March 31st.

Colors were Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, and Pear Pizzazz (one of my favorite color combos).  The silver ribbon is another Sale-A-Bration item.  I did put some Wink of Stella on the main focal image.

100th Technique Tuesday Celebration

I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for over 16 years, and I adore my customers. Last night, we celebrated a huge milestone – my 100th Technique Tuesday class. With 100 classes, I taught over 300 techniques – quite a treasure trove of ideas!

We celebrated in many ways – we ate (like every other stamping event). I even had the local bakery put a quick “100” on the cake.

Door prizes were abundant at the event.  I did an all-guest door prize giveway.  I also shared a fun quiz for my guests to fill out with ten questions about the history of Technique Tuesday.  It was a four-way tie.  Some of their answers were devilishly funny.  I also did another door prize drawing for the three guests who have attended ALL 100 classes!  Thank you so much to Sandy Becker, Kellie Becker Marquardt, and Sue Hale for sharing my love of stamping and supporting my business.

On to stamping!  One of the cards we created last night was a Matchbook Birthday Card.  Using the Big on Birthdays stamp set and the Party Animal DSP and embellishments in the Occasions catalog plus the balloon punch and Emerald Envy ruched ribbon, we quickly put together this card.  Very fun and easy – thanks to Patty Bennett for the inspiration!

Thanks for all of your support in my business!  Here’s to the next 100 classes!

Hey Chick SAB Card

At the end of every month, I shake my head and wonder where did the time go?  December was no different, but I do know where the time went.  I’ve had many family commitments (don’t we all in December).  But getting my stampin’ mojo back has been a struggle.

Time is ticking away and soon it will be January.  With January comes the new Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration!  Stamping goodies galore are coming our way!

Of all the items in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, the Hey, Chick stamp set was my must-have item.  It just makes me giggle!  You’ll hopefully be seeing more samples on my blog and others if you need some inducement to getting this whimsical set.

Please bear with me as I try to shake off 2016 and welcome in 2017. Sale-A-Bration starts in only 5 days.

Wacky Wednesday Monster Punch Card

Punch classes are favorite events for my customers!  At my Holiday Cards Punch Class this month, here is the Halloween Punch Card we made:

I did base this off of another demo’s card, but added some of my own creativity too.

Here is what you need to make this card:

  • (2) 1-1/2″ circle punch pieces in Whisper White
  • (4) Tree Builder branches in Real Red
  • (2) 3/4″ circle punch pieces in Pacific Point
  • (2) 1/2″ circle punch pieces in Basic Black
  • (2) Fox Builder tails in Old Olive
  • (1) Fox Builder body in Old Olive (cut for nose)
  • (1) Classic Label punch piece in Whisper White (I punched out about 3/4 of it for the mouth)
  • (1) Star punch point in Whisper White

You do need to trim the branches for the bloodshot eyes.  I also used the chalk marker for the mouth.

The card comes together very quickly.  Don’t forget – how you place the eyes is how nice/wacky/mean a creature can look!

Hope you enjoyed this whimsical card – I think it is a perfect way to celebrate my 16 years as a demonstrator!

Mixed Drinks Step It Up Saturday

I sound like a broken record.  Wish I could put more time into my blog, and I do have good intentions.  I certainly am stamping; in fact, October is my busiest month for stamping.  However, with my other jobs and family commitments and then my major vices Facebook and Pinterest, it is hard to focus on working this part of my business.

Today’s Step It Up card features the stamp set Mixed Drinks.  Love, love, love it for fun and whimsical cards.

Here is my first extremely simple card –

I transformed it into a Z Fold Card and added some DSP and card stock layers.

I should have colored in the umbrella and the straw.  You could add bling of course.

Hmm…is it too early for a cocktail?

Totally Trees Step It Up Saturday

I knew I wanted to share this step-it-up set of cards on World Card-Making Day.

The first card was a simple but lovely card created for the Fabulous Fall Stamp Camp.  We used the Totally Trees stamp set and the Rose Wonder stamp set for the phrase.  Also used for this card was the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper (sorry, not one on sale), Layering Squares Framelits, and the Ribbon Trio Pack. We did double dip the inking of leaves on this card – start with the lightest color and before stamping lightly restamp into a darker color.

But even though I liked this card, I knew it was a perfect card to step up.

I added another vertical layer behind the DSP, tied a knot with ribbon, added three copper circles, and embossed both the phrase and the leaves on the tree.  Some very simple changes, but they really make this card pop.

Show me some love and subscribe to my blog.  At the end of October, I will review all new subscribers, and if they have ordered from me, I will put them into a random door prize drawing for a $10 gift certificate.
