Stampin’ Up! Soda Top Bottlecap Necklace Examples
My Bottlecap Necklace stamp camp was today. It was amazing what fun we had with a few Stampin' Up! stamp sets, markers, Crystal Effects, and some soda pop tops. The trick is to HEAT EMBOSS your stamped/colored image with a VersaMark pad and clear embossing powder before attaching it to the soda pop top. This way the colored image does not run when using Crystal Effects to glass coat the piece of art.
Every Little Bit stamp set was a big hit with this group – and we came up with some cute ideas.
The circle art piece is from Circle Circus. If you have little girls, wouldn't these make FABULOUS bow centers? Key chains, bookmarks, magnets, pins, wine glass charms, and earrings were just some of the great ideas we came up with. This was such an easy project – perfect for a Girl Scout troop or classroom Mother's Day gift.
We flattened our soda pop tops with a Big Shot (flip both tabs out) and send it through sandwiched between two plates (sharp edges up), but you don't HAVE to flatten them if you don't want to. The 1" circle punch is perfect for the large soda pop tops, and the 1/2" circle punch is perfect for the smaller size.
The next step is to punch a hole in the rim (if you are making a necklace) with a 1/16" circle punch. DO NOT punch a hole on the base section.
Stamp and color your piece and punch out with correct circle punch. Use VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.
We attached the stamped and punched out circle to the soda pop top with a little dab of the Crystal Effects. Make sure it stays as flat as possible. Once it is adhered, spread more Crystal Effects over the top and set aside to dry. They do take several hours to dry…my customers are coming back for them later this weekend.
