Welcome to the blog of Jane Hignite, Independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

VC Rocks Blog Hop – Big Shot, Sizzix Dies, and Punches

Hello all…

It’s time to blog hop with our talented VC Rockers!  This time around, we are focusing on the Big Shot, Sizzix Dies, and Stampin’ Up! punches.  I’ve got one of the favorite cards from this week’s Technique Tuesday class to show off.

The card we made used the Northern Lights technique.  No, I cannot take credit for the technique.  I actually learned it from another demonstrator, Kay Kalthoff.

I used the Apothecary Accents framelits for the focal image.  I also used the Decorative Dots embossing folder – one of my favorites!

The instructions for the technique are really pretty easy.

Supplies

  • Daffodil Delight/Tempting Turquoise/Rich Razzleberry/Night of Navy Inkpads
  • StazOn Inkpad
  • Whisper White Card Stock
  • Sponges
  • Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set or other Landscape Stamp Set
  • Decorative Dots Embossing Folder
  • Apothecary Accents Framelits
  • Scrap Paper
  • White Gel Pen
  • Black Taffeta Ribbon
  • Glue Dots

Lay Whisper White CS on scrap paper.

Using sponge and going in a back and forth motion, apply stripes of color to WW CS.  (1-DD; 2-TT  Add Rich Razzle on top).  Leave a little light coming through the other colors.

Stamp the tree landscape in StazOn on top of the stripes.

Sponge Night of Navy to the edge of the ground.  Completely fill in that section with Night of Navy.  (Northern Lights don’t shine through the ground.)

Lightly sponge more Night of Navy over the top of the stripes.  Leave some light shine through.

Once dry, add “stars” with white gel pen.

Dramatic effect – all will look a little different.  The colors will soften as they dry.

I hope you enjoy all the VC ROCKS blogs on this month’s blog hop!  Come back again!

Chalk Talk Alphabet Press Card with Washi Tape

At my 2013 New Catalog Card Buffet this week, I wanted to show LOTS of new products!  Here is a card that used new color (Strawberry Slush In Color), new stamp set (Chalk Talk), new Big Shot Embossing Folder (Alphabet Press), new Big Shot Framelits (Chalk Talk), new paper (Core'dinations In Color-Strawberry Slush), and new accessories (Gingham Garden Washi Tape and Strawberry Slush Stretch Ruffle Ribbon).  WOW – talk about NEW!!!!!

Here is the final card – some of my stampers put the saying askew on the top of the card.  They LOVED all of the new products but especially the new washi tape and ribbon.

Chalk Talk-2013 New Catalog Card Buffet

I haven't used this color combination (deep pink and dark blue) in a very long time.  It was the washi tape that inspired me….

It’s Happy Hour!

Hello!

Welcome to my stop on the VC Rocks June 2012 blog hop.  You probably came from Toni Tessler's blog .  This time around we are focusing on any size cards!  I created a Z Fold card for my Birthday Blowout Stamp Camp this week.  Z Fold cards are easy and fun to create.

One of the must-have stamp sets for me this year was Happy Hour. I like the whimsical feel of the stamps! The Polka Dot DSP matched perfectly with the image I used too! Here is my creation:

2012 VC Rocks June Blog Hop Happy Hour Z Fold Card

2012 VC Rocks June Blog Hop Happy Hour Z Fold Card

The Z Fold card is a wonderful way to package a gift card.  Just put a few glue dots on the back of the gift card and put it on the inside part of the flap.

Color combination on this card was Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White.  The new stitched ribbon is so sweet.  Did you know you can use your 1/2" circle punch to punch out the lemon (lime, orange, or?) slice?  All you need to do is stamp the image, use the punch, cut it in half, and you have your slice!  Much easier than hand cutting that little dickens!

Well, there are lots of stops on this blog hop. Pam Mullis is the next stop along the way.  Hmmm, I think I am going to fix myself a cocktail!

SUDSOL Blog Tour-Hearts and Hidden Treasures

Hello all!

Today is the SUDSOL Blog Tour!  Our blog tour is featuring projects using the Sale-A-Bration and Occasions Mini stamp sets and products.

Heart Framelit 3D Valentine Project

I am sharing a wonderful project from last weekend's Mom and Me Valentine's Day Stamp Camp.  I had three girls attend – who ranged in ages from 6 to 11.  This project was simple enough so the girls could easily recreate it for a Valentine's Day class handout.  All of the ladies loved it!

The project features the new Heart Framelits from the Occasions Mini Catalog…it took me a while to open up this package and use it.  BUT I AM NOW HOOKED.  Oh, it is so much fun creating with these beauties!

Here is the project we made:

 2012 SUDSOL BLOG TOUR-Mom & Me Project

For this version, here are the supplies needed:

  • Pretty in Pink/Melon Mambo CS
  • Heart Framelits/Big Shot
  • Delightful Dozen Stamp Set
  • Small Heart Punch/Designer Label Punch
  • Sticky Strip/Adhesive
  • Pretty in Pink Brads
  • Whisper White Ribbon
  • Basic Gems
  • Melon Mambo Ink
  • York Heart Peppermint Candy

Here are our proud stampers – thank you Erica, Heather, and Katie for stamping with me today.  You were so sweet!

2012 SUDSOL BLOG TOUR-Mom & Me Girls

Want to see a "Blinged Out" version of the project?  This one could be made for your child's teacher or maybe tucked in your sweetie's lunch on Valentine's Day. I embossed the back Pretty in Pink heart using the Polka Dots Embossing Folder – plus added some smaller Melon Mambo hearts before embossing the front Pretty in Pink heart.  I also added a backing to my phrase and colored the heart in with a Pretty in Pink marker and then topped it with Dazzling Details.

Heart Framelit-Quilted Heart Technique TUTORIAL

I teach a Technique Tuesday stamp class every month.  We did take December off, but I was ready to go tonight with a fabulous new technique. I taught my stampers how to do a Quilted Heart card.  Here is the finished card:

2012 SUDSOL BLOG TOUR

Supplies needed:

  • Big Shot and Heart Framelit Set
  • Designer Series Paper (I used Twitterpated)
  • Copy Paper
  • 1" Square Punch
  • Adhesive
  • Riding Hood Red Ink
  • Blushing Bride CS/Whisper White CS
  • Blushing Bride Pleated Satin Ribbon
  • Large Pearls
  • Sponge
  • Small Heart Punch

Instructions

  1. Cut the Scalloped Heart Framelit using your Big Shot and a piece of COPY PAPER.
  2. Cut strips of DSP (1-1/4" is wide enough to punch with the 1" punch).
  3. Center the first square in the center of the Scalloped Heart.
  4. Continue adding squares – pattern or no pattern – it is up to you!
  5. Add them to cover entire heart but be sure to adhere only the DSP to the heart – you don't want to squares to stick to your scrap paper.
  6. Center the next largest heart over where you'd like to cut out.
  7. Run it through the Big Shot.
  8. Use on card and embellish!  The card shown above is a 5" x 5" card.
