Halloween Punch Art Black Cat

Every year, I teach a Fall and Winter Holiday Punch Art class.  It is one of my best-attended classes of the year.  2015 was no different.  I do at least one Halloween card, one Thanksgiving card, and usually two Christmas cards.

This year’s Halloween card featured a black cat – super easy to create using some basic punches:

The background circles are the 2-1/2″ circle.  One was from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper selection (love it).

Here is what you need to make the cat:

extra large oval punch

1-3/4″ circle punch

1″ circle punch

medium star punch

To make the body of the cat, punch out part of the extra large oval onto a piece of basic black card stock.  Then take the 1-3/4″ circle punch and punch out part of the circle from the already punched card stock.

To make the tail of the cat, use the punch to create a half oval with the extra large oval punch on a piece of basic black card stock.  Then punch again right on top of on the same card stock that has already been punched (not the punched out piece) to create a large sliver of a moon.  That’s your tail!

The ears were punched from a medium star and then trimmed for the two peaks.  Face was the 1″ circle punch.  Added some scissor-cut whiskers and pearls for the eyes.  Of course, popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

The phrase is from Happy Scenes – one of the most popular stamp sets in the 2015 Holiday Catalog!
