Happy Pi Day!

Outside of my stamping life, I am a math instructional aide for a local middle school.  I work with a fantastic group of teachers.  In a very short amount of time, I believe I have become a math geek (so late in life too!).

Well, today is like a cherry pie bubbling over in math geekiness.  It is Pi Day.  March 14 or better known as 3.14……

With those fabulous new Large Number Framelits, it was easy to make a card to celebrate the occasion.   Actually I call it my Pi in the Sky card!  Love that new Global Places Designer Series Paper Stack!  A few quick punches, some pearls, and Stampin’ Dimensionals, and you have a fun card to claim your piece of the math geekiness pi(e).

Lovely as a Tree One-Layer Card

One of the difficulties when I design a card is my tendency to layer.  I love layers of card stock on cards, and I guess I am a bit of a traditionalist.  Sometimes, however, it is time to break out of a pattern and try something new.  When creating cards for my All About Men Stamp Camp, I wanted to focus on less layers and different styles.  Well, this is one I came up with that was a big hit with my stampers.

Lovely as a Tree One Layer Card

You fold a base piece of card stock in half and then cut off about 3/4″ -1″ of the front piece.  You then layer a 1″ strip of DSP on the back piece.  The new Going Places DSP is filled with interesting and masculine designs, which made it a perfect back liner for this card.  Stamps I used included the pine tree from Lovely as a Tree and the background from You’ve Got This.  Colors were Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow.  The card was finished off with a button and thread.

Simple, classy, masculine, and economical!
