Zoo Babies – Rubber Band Alligator Card

I recently participated in a technique swap with one of my online stamping groups.  I created this fun birthday card using the rubber band brayer technique.  It is such a fun and easy way to make a background!

Zoo Babies-Rubber Band

Here’s how you do it:

  • Find several rubber bands – better results with a variety of widths
  • Wrap the bands around a rubber brayer
  • Ink up the bands over an inkpad  and roll on a piece of card stock
  • Reapply ink and go over it in another direction

I used a neutral (Very Vanilla) card stock, but you can use colored card stock too for a tone-on-tone look.

I colored the gems using Blendabilities markers.

The arrow is from the new What’s Up! punch!

Zoo Babies Triangle Congratulations

Baby cards are always fun to send out – in fact, don’t you giggle a little even making them?

Here is a different color combination for a baby card – Summer Starfruit, Raspberry Ripple, and Midnight Muse.  Perfect for the mom who knows she is expecting a little baby boy….

Zoo Babies Hello Alligator Card

See ya later, alligator?  Not today – we’re saying “hello” instead!  This is a swap card I made over the summer with one of my favorite returning colors, Pear Pizzazz.  I do love to combine Pear Pizzazz with Early Espresso and Very Vanilla…yum, sounds like dessert!

Ok, now you can say it – see you later, alligator!

Zoo Babies Midnight Giraffe

Well, the kids are back at the zoo, I mean school.  Just kidding of course.  I’ve still got a little “stamp crush” on Zoo Babies.  This time, I paired the giraffe with Midnight Muse, Cherry Cobbler, and Garden Green.  Such a simple card but great to have in your card stash for babies, birthdays, and other celebrations.

Zoo Babies Faux Shadowbox Card

One of the cutest stamp sets in the new catalog has to be Zoo Babies.  Those little animals are perfect for a baby card.  Here is one using the faux shadowbox technique:

I used a marker to color in the saying (masking out part of the phrase).  A Round Array stamp set was used as the background for the phrase.  I love the combination of Smoky Slate and Marina Mist (and you know that I LOVE the Polka Dot DSP).  When I punched out the circle for the main image, I did punch out both the Smoky Slate and the DSP at the same time (never punch out two pieces of cardstock at the same time).  The DSP is a lighter weight so it worked just fine.  Here is what I did with that punched out piece:

I used it as the inside greeting.  Cute, cute, cute!
