Monochromatic Monday-Falling Flowers
Today’s challenge is creating a card with a monochromatic color palette, and my choice was Daffodil Delight.
I’m kind of crazy over our Basic Pearls, and this card uses plenty of them! Did you know if you press the pearls first before taking them off the protective sheet, they won’t lose their glue dot? One of my stampers suggested this, and it really does work!
The main stamp set is Falling Flowers, and the phrase is from Layering Love.
Sponging around the focal image softens the overall look. This card lends itself with any color palette!

Step-It-Up Saturday – Falling Flowers
Finally got to my stamping table late tonight as I had a vendor event today. But I promised a card every day, and true to my word, here is my Step-It-Up Saturday card using the new stamp set, Falling Flowers, and one of my favorite thank you stamp sets, One Big Meaning.
When I sat down tonight, I was clueless as to what I wanted to create. However, I promised myself I would NOT use the Big Shot. My Big Shot is my favorite tool for any card, but it can also be a crutch. Any card you use your Big Shot on is a step up!
I met my challenge tonight, and in addition, I used a color combination outside of my usual comfort zone. Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, and Tangerine Tango feel like summer to me, and now I can turn to this trio with confidence.
Here is the first card:
Of course, after I take pictures of the card, I notice the tilting pearls on top. Oh well. I hope the person who gets this card won’t mind. Maybe I can fix it too. Using those pearl lines is another challenge. Those are always the last ones used on my pearl sheet.
Here is the stepped-up version:
How did I step up this card? Well, card stock to start with. I love the quality of Stampin’ Up! card stock, and layers of it on a card just make me happy. I also colored in more of the stamens on the background and added more flowers to the phrase layer. The phrase layer flowers also have Wink of Stella which brings some zing to them. Tighter trimming of the phrase layer leaves less blah space. I also like to add a pearl when a word has an “i” in it.
Try this color combo – I think you too will feel a little more summery afterwards!

Fabulous Friday – Punch Art Palette Card
Today was the last day for our summer school munchkins. We put on a Cinderella production with 1st through 5th graders. It was an amazing success, and we had five middle-school helpers who designed and painted all the stage sets.
I created thank you cards for our helpers. I tweaked an earlier version with current merchandise. Sorry for the bad picture. I took it way too early this morning!
The girls loved the cards and pronounced they would be saving them on their bulletin boards.

Technique Tuesday – Tear N’ Tape Embossing
Sometimes the simplest techniques make me happy. I just love this one. Heat embossing is one of those wow techniques that every stamper loves to do, but oftentimes doesn’t take the time for. It’s not that the technique is difficult or even new. For gosh sakes, I remember heat embossing in a workshop as a guest before I had kids.
I taught my stampers the Tear N’ Tape embossing technique last week. Tear N’ Tape is a great tool for securing 3D projects, and now I think I will have to buy even more rolls of it.
Supplies
- Tear N’ Tape
- Embossing Buddy
- Embossing Powder
- Heat Gun
- Card Stock
- Stamps/Ink
For this card, I used the Fresh Fruit stamp set and embossed the pear the traditional way. Colors include Old Olive, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla. The stamp set is a two-step style, but I also sponged over the edges of the embossed image.
For the embossed stripe, here are the instructions:
- Rub card stock with Embossing Buddy.
- Tear off a piece of Tear & Tape. Take off protective layer
- Dump embossing powder all over strip of tape. Tap off excess.
- Heat until set.

Throwback Thursday – National Pink Day Warhol Technique
Did you know that June 23rd is National Pink Day? I know in our Stampin’ Up! world, “pink” sounds boring – but Melon Mambo gets me excited to stamp! I made this meme a while back – still true!
Today’s throwback is to a stamp set called Touch of Nature and the Warhol Technique. I created this card in 2007.
I did a little update today and used more pink to celebrate National Pink Day!
Hard to see in the photo, but on the Pink Pirouette panel, I colored the flower in with Wink of Stella. The stamp set is Perfectly Wrapped – the phrases in this stamp set are fun to use!

Throwback Thursday – Strawberry Fields Forever
My sister asked on Facebook this week to go strawberry picking. Believe it or not, I have never done it. During the summer, we try to do little jaunts because we are both so busy during the school year. So we are planning to go next week.
In the back of my mind, I remembered the Tart N Tangy stamp set which included a strawberry. I knew I had some samples of this long-retired stamp set which would be perfect Throwback Thursday.
Here is a sample from 2008:
Yeah. That’s about right. Loving that Green Galore and Real Red. Still miss those brads. Notice I didn’t even put a watermark on this one. No threat on internet stealing of this idea, right? Ok, enough looking back. We have a brand-new catalog with fabulous new stamp sets and accessories to gush over.
Here is my updated card using the new Fresh Fruit stamp set and coordinating designer series paper.
Colors used were Pear Pizzazz and Watermelon Wonder with Whisper White. I did use Wink of Stella on the strawberries, scored the bottom of the Pear Pizzazz piece, and added two sizes of pearls. Fresh Fruit is a two-step stamp set and is made of photopolymer so two-toned stamping is easier than using markers and huffing on the stamp like the older card.
Which one do you prefer? Thanks for looking back with me! Can’t wait to go strawberry picking next week!

Welcome, 2016!
The new year is upon us. 2015 had many happy moments, and who knows what is in store for 2016.
One thing I already know about 2016 – is that my customers are going to LOVE the new Sale-A-Bration catalog! One of the free stamp sets you can earn when you spend $50 or more is Flowering Fields. I love the simple coloring you can do with this stamp set and the variety of wildflowers and plants in the set. I took the phrase “BECAUSE YOU’RE SO NICE” from the new Botanicals for You stamp set (also one of the free Sale-A-Bration stamp sets) and omitted the “BECAUSE” for this card. My color combination is Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Basic Black, and Pear Pizzazz. The Botanical Gardens DSP is from the new Occasions catalog.

For the Birds – Valentine Miss You Card
Sometimes Valentine’s aren’t close by…and sometimes you don’t have to stamp a Valentine in bright Real Red. Here’s a perfect card for someone you miss…

Angel Punch Art with Pennant Punch
This summer I hosted a Crazy About the Pennant Punch stamp camp. We really were a little crazy that evening! I wanted to bring in a Christmas card to the mix, so I shared this one with my stampers. It really goes together quickly!
Punches needed are as follows:
- Pennant Punch for dress
- Scallop Circle for wings
- Owl for hair and heart
- 1″ Circle for hair bangs and face
- Cupcake for cheeks
- 1/2″ and 3/4″ Circles for halo
Of course, the Scalloped Tag Punch is the backing for the angel.
Although this is a Christmas card, it could easily be transformed into a child’s birthday card, a thank you card, a baby card, or even a get well card!
In my religion, today is also All Saints Day so although it is not a traditional card-giving holiday, it does go with the theme of the day.

Fall Fest Work of Art Card
Happy October! I’m getting my pumpkin on!
A quick and easy card using Work of Art and Fall Fest stamp sets. The leaf accent is one of our new wooden accents sponged with an ink pad!
